The Technology Transfer Center (TTC) hosted an Intellectual Property (IP) Seminar “Is Your Invention Inventive? –What Is Obvious Is Not Obvious: A Conversation with Your Patent Attorney” on 7 November 2018 at Room 6602. The seminar featured Dr. Chuan Gao, Partner of the law firm Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP in the US.
In the seminar, Dr. Gao illustrated the basic legal framework of the concept of obviousness in the patent law context. She raised the main considerations in assessing the obviousness question and suggested practical strategies in securing patent rights for an invention. Several cases were provided to give insights to inventors on how to rebut the assessment on obviousness from the Examiner.
Presentation material and Remote Video Capture of the seminar is now available on the TTC website: http://ttc.ust.hk/index.php?p=4&sp=48
