The Technology Transfer Center (TTC) hosted an Intellectual Property (IP) Seminar “Is My Invention Patentable? Patent 101 – Fundamental Concepts in Patent Law” on 1 April 2019 at Mr and Mrs Lee Siu Lun Lecture Theater (LT-K). The seminar featured Ms Jennifer Che, Vice President and Partner at Eagle IP Limited in Hong Kong.
In the seminar, Ms Che explored the fundamental concepts behind patent law, illustrating what are the requirements needed in order to obtain an issued patent. During the seminar, she explained the differences between patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. She also discussed how to develop a strong IP strategy, why proper inventorship is important, how publications can impact a patent, and common mistakes that inventors make when pursuing patent rights.
Presentation material is now available on the TTC website: http://ttc.ust.hk/index.php?p=4&sp=48
