Special guests include Professor Wei Shyy, President of HKUST, and Professor Yang Wang, Vice-President for Institutional Advancement, who will share with you the latest entrepreneur-related developments at your alma mater.
At the event, we will have a display area set up to showcase products developed by our alumni and students. Please let us know in the online registration form if you are interested in showcasing your product(s) and our staff will be in touch with you to follow up. Final decisions on products selected for the showcase will be at the discretion of the Development and Alumni Office and the School of Business and Management.

Have you ever thought of starting your own business and sought funding from venture capitalists or angel investors? Are you a co-founder of a start-up planning for fundraising?
You may have the following questions:
What is venture capital (VC), and how to seek their investment?
How does VC evaluate start-ups for investments?
How to develop a business plan that optimizes product-market fit?
How to build a financial model that demonstrates the financial potential?
Inside Venture Capital: VC Workshop, consisting of four 1.5-hour live webinars conducted over two weeks and companion online course materials, will provide the way to answer these questions.
In this course, participants will learn the key skills for getting VC investment:
Creating high-potential investment opportunities;
Using financial projections to arrive at a proper valuation for start-ups;
Developing an exit strategy that maximizes the value;
Negotiating good investment deals.

About the Speaker- Mr. Douglas Abrams
Douglas Abrams is the founder and CEO of Expara, Southeast Asia’s leading venture accelerator and fund. He has launched and invested 5 VC funds in SEA since 2007. Prior to coming to Singapore in 2000, Mr. Abrams managed IT at JPMorgan for 14 years. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the NUS Business School, (entrepreneurship) since 2001 and a Visiting Professor (venture capital) for Sasin at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok since 2007 and was a Visiting Professor in Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital at RMIT in Vietnam from 2016-2019. Mr. Abrams is a former Chairman of the Business Angel Network of South East Asia (BANSEA), was previously Deputy Co-Chairman and was a Director from 2002-2018. He has a BA in Communications from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from The Wharton School.
